We work with over 150 tutors around the world, with most of them stationed in Malaysia. Our tutors are graduates and professionals who are experts at their fields. Most of them graduated from top universities, so they know how competitive top university admissions can be, and what it takes for a student to succeed.

Tamara (Founder)

University of Oxford

Tamara obtained her MEng degree in Materials Science from Oxford University. She was awarded an academic scholarship and several college prizes throughout her time at Trinity College, Oxford. Tamara then spent her 4th year at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US doing research on “Biodegradable Bone Screws”. Following this, she joined Shell and worked for 9 years in various roles starting out as a Materials Engineer in The Netherlands. After various commercial roles in Shell, she started PrepWorks in 2015 to provide guidance to students aiming for top universities, colleges and boarding schools. Tamara also obtained a certification from Harvard Graduate School of Education in Online Teaching and Learning Strategies and counsels 50+ students a year herself with the majority making it to their top choice school or university.

Qin En

Stanford University

Qin En graduated from Stanford University in record-time: he completed his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Management Science & Engineering within 2 years, and achieved Distinction (top 15% of Stanford cohort). Since 2012, Qin En has helped dozens of high school students in Singapore and Malaysia with their US and UK college applications. His students have been admitted to Stanford, Brown, University of Pennsylvania, NYU, UWisconsin Madison, Imperial College London, UCL among others.

Andy

University of Oxford

Born and raised in England by two wonderful parents, Andrew received quality education in a local grammar school, followed by a degree in Engineering at Oxford University. Since graduating from Oxford, he and his wife have settled in Malaysia to raise their beautiful daughter. Andrew used to work as a teacher, specialising in Math and Further Math, but now works as a pastor in the church. Although he seldom gets much time to himself, he enjoys reading during those moments.

Celine

University of Cambridge

Celine was awarded a full scholarship to read MEng and BA in Chemical Engineering (via Natural Sciences) at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, where she graduated with a Second Upper Honours in 2017. While a student, Celine also published articles pertaining to academia and became an intern and campus leader for Teach for Malaysia in Cambridge. With over 10 years of helping others to achieve their dream grades and university offers, Celine is currently a PrepWorks tutor, specialising in subject tutoring, entrance test/essay competition coaching, and university admissions counselling. She was also awarded ‘Best Tutor’ by Prepworks in 2019. Teaching aside, Celine has amassed work experiences in Finance and Engineering here in Malaysia and the United Kingdom.

Krysianna

Harvard University and University of Oxford

Krysianna tutors students from the start of their SAT/ACT journey in secondary school through to their university admission. She also works with university level students on exam preparation, graduate admissions and foundational coursework. She received her Bachelor of Arts with Honours from Harvard University in 2017. She continued her studies at the University of Oxford, and in 2018 she graduated with Distinction and in the top 5% of students with a Master of Science in Global Governance and Diplomacy. She has taught the advanced SAT and ACT courses for highly regarded school programs such as Sevenoaks, Latymer, St Clare’s Oxford, Wellington College and Queen’s Gate. She has guided students towards perfecting their essay and test-taking performance across a variety of subjects, especially in the social sciences.

Pheng Chew

University of Cambridge

Pheng Chew is an Associate Legal Counsel/ Prosecuting Officer in Bank Negara Malaysia. He is in the Enforcement Unit of the Legal Department, where he specialises on offences under the legislation administered by Bank Negara Malaysia, such as the Financial Services Act 2013, Money Services Business Act 2011. He is involved in the prosecution of unlicensed money remitters, unlicensed money changers, bank officers who breach the banking secrecy provision, etc. He graduated with a B.A. (Hons) in Law from Fitzwilliam, University of Cambridge in 2018. He passionately embarks on the tutoring journey in 2019, as education is something close to his heart.

Kylie

Harvard University and University of Pennsylvania

Kylie has a Bachelor’s degree in Government from Harvard University and a Master’s in Business Administration from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Coming from a family of journalists, Kylie has always been inquisitive about human nature and adept at writing. She is passionate about helping people to fulfil their unique potential in life. Since 2014, Kylie has been guiding prospective university students through the process of self-discovery and storytelling so that they can write effective admissions essays and maximize their chances of getting into their dream university. Kylie’s students have gone on to Ivy League colleges in the US, such as Harvard, Princeton, Columbia and University of Pennsylvania, as well as to top Russell Group universities in the UK.

Aidan

University of Cambridge

Aidan graduated with a B.A. (Hons) in Mathematics from Cambridge University in June 2012. He was an Assistant Vice President with the Research Division of Khazanah Nasional from 2013-2020. He has 6 years of experience tutoring in Economics and Mathematics for IB HL and IGCSE / ‘A’ Level. He also tutored students preparing for Oxbridge entrance examinations, helping them gain admission to Oxbridge and top Russell group universities. He believes in being well-read in current affairs when approaching the topic of economics holistically; for mathematics, he believes in building broad-based problem solving skills from a young age to counter the more rote-learning methods of standard math curricula. In his spare time, he enjoys calisthenics, mixology, tea, reading, travelling, classical music and jazz.

Karen

University of Cambridge

Karen is a current clinical medical student at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge. Karen received the Cambridge Trust Scholarship and intercalated in Manufacturing Engineering. She received 12A*s for her IGCSEs with 2 Top of the World and 2 Top of Malaysia awards. She then received a scholarship to attend A Levels in a top college in the UK, where she achieved 4A*s and a Merit. Karen has provided one-on-one tutoring for interviews, personal statements and applications for medical schools in the UK and Hong Kong. She recognises the importance of having a mentor’s personalised help and strong intrinsic motivation for the best applications and to thrive in challenging times. Karen is a Cambridge Varsity pistol shooter and enjoys running.

Alysha

University of Pennsylvania

Alysha graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Economics and Anthropology (Hons) from the University of Pennsylvania. During her time at university, Alysha was the recipient of two undergraduate research grants, where she conducted independent ethnographic fieldwork on racial ontologies and identity in Malaysia. Alysha believes strongly in access to education for all and combatting education inequality. She has helped aspiring students navigate the US college application process and provided guidance on US application essay writing through CollegeLAH and Project Access on a volunteer basis since 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys swing dancing, and exploring art exhibitions and museums.

Regina

University of Oxford and Royal Holloway University of London

Regina Yau is a Rhodes Scholar who holds two graduate degrees from Oxford – an M.St in Women’s Studies and an M.St in Oriental Studies (China Studies). She also has a First-class Bachelors Degree in English from Royal Holloway University of London. She has 12 years of experience teaching English and currently teaches students aged 12 to 18 in preparation for Checkpoint, iGCSEs and IELTS. Some of her students have gone on to attend Oxbridge, with one student citing her as an inspiration for choosing Oxford over Cambridge. Outside teaching, Regina is the founder and president of The Pixel Project, a virtual non-profit working to end violence against women at the intersection of social media, new technologies, and the arts/pop culture.

Michelle

University of Oxford

Michelle graduated from Oxford University under the Khazanah Global Scholarship programme, where she studied Materials Science. During her four years in Oxford, she was awarded the Morgan Ceramics Award, was selected to perform research at MIT, and finally graduated with an M.Eng. Her current teaching experience includes preparation for boarding school entrance exams, including verbal and non-verbal reasoning. She strives to give students a strong foundation, built upon a firm understanding of both 'how' and 'why' something works.

Milaine

University of Columbia

Milaine received her B.A. from Columbia University, where she studied English and History. She hopes to demystify the study of literature as good writing and critical thinking are essential skills for any career or course. She is passionate about helping students articulate their ideas, and to ask meaningful questions about the world around them. Milaine previously interned with the Columbia University Admissions Department and served on the Global Recruitment Committee to connect with prospective students about student life. With USAPPS, she presented workshops on the holistic admissions criteria, mentored scholarship recipients, and provided consultations on school choice.

Jamie

University of Oxford

Jamie is a final-year DPhil candidate in Politics at the University of Oxford. He teaches at both Oxford and University College London, and he has experience assessing the TSA essays of prospective PPE candidates. Jamie has been a private tutor for over five years, specialising in university admissions and supporting undergraduates in Philosophy, Politics and Dissertation Writing. He has been published in multiple academic journals and he is a recipient of the Avril Bruten Prize for Creative Writing. He believes in all his students, even when they don’t believe in themselves.

Victoria

University of Southampton

Victoria graduated in medicine at the University of Southampton and trained in plastic surgery at a number of the UK’s most prestigious units. Victoria is an award-winning surgeon in both plastic surgery and breast cancer surgery for her research in these fields. Victoria undertook further specialist fellowship training in cosmetic surgery in London’s Harley Street area, working alongside and learning from some of the biggest names in plastic surgery. She completed two further breast specialist fellowships in breast cancer at The Royal Marsden Hospital (London), Addenbrookes Hospital (Cambridge) and Memorial Sloane Kettering (USA). Victoria first moved to the U.K. from Malaysia for medical school. She is passionate about educating future generations and helping students make this life step as smoothly as possible.

Crystal

Princeton University

Crystal graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. (Honors) in Economics and a certificate in Global Health Policy. After graduating, she spent two years at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur conducting population health research through the Fulbright Scholar Program. Crystal is currently pursuing her doctorate in medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, the medical college of Cornell University in New York City. She has been tutoring students for the SAT since 2012 and has guided students through the U.S. college admissions process since 2015. While at Princeton, she served for three years as a Peer Academic Advisor and enjoys mentoring students of all academic interests, from economics to the natural sciences and the arts.

Amanda

University of Oxford

Amanda graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University with a BA in English Literature. As a teacher with over 30 years of experience, she offers online tutoring for a variety of subjects including maths, English and literature. In addition to teaching, she has worked in senior management roles in independent schools, both overseas and in the UK. She has been involved in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme as a teacher and programme coordinator. Her lessons involve active engagement with the student, using tools such as diagrams and geometry apps to help them understand better. She believes that effective communication is very important, and develops a personal plan to help students.

Chui-Joe

University of Oxford

Chui-Joe attended The Alice Smith School from 2010-2013, completing 10 GCSEs (10 A*) and four GCE A-levels (2A*2A) and the AQA Baccalaureate (Distinction). After secondary school, Chui-Joe attended Oxford University, where she graduated in 2016 with a BA in History, First Class. She continued her studies at Oxford with a Masters in Philosophy in Traditional East Asia, from which she graduated with Distinction in 2018. She is currently undertaking a PhD in History at Oxford. Her research focus is historical writing in seventeenth-century China, Korea, and Japan.Chui-Joe’s experience in tutoring stems from five months as a graduate assistant in the History department at North London Collegiate School Jeju, followed by ad-hoc work recording lectures and advising on university admissions for students in China and Malaysia.

Emeline

University of Oxford

Emeline is a second-year Economics & Management student at the University of Oxford. Prior to university, she achieved multiple academic awards such as the Pearson Edexcel Excellence Award and the Top in the World award for one of her IGCSE subjects. Emeline has previously worked at a company to provide guidance to students on university admission tests, personal statement writing and mock interviews. Additionally, she has also been featured as a panellist on multiple outreach events and has experience volunteering as a Mathematics tutor. As someone who has recently been in the shoes of applicants, she believes it is important to reassure students and ensure that they are adequately prepared to perform to the best of their abilities.

Jish

University of Oxford

Jish received a full scholarship to read Jurisprudence at Merton College, University of Oxford, from which he graduated in 2015, winning prizes for best first and second year law student at Merton. For the past six years, Jish has been a solicitor at a global white-shoe law firm, prior to a planned return to Malaysia in 2022. Jish had counselled students in their applications to Oxford and law firms, and been involved in various charities to teach under-privileged kids. He believes that students should be supported in finding a balanced and sustainable approach to academics. Ultimately he believes that learning how to think critically and to ask the right questions are far more important than being taught the subject itself.

Jesryna

University of Oxford

Jesryna graduated with a First Class Honours in Jurisprudence (Law) from the University of Oxford, where she studied on a full academic scholarship and went on to complete the UK Bar. She is currently a legal associate at a leading law firm in Malaysia. Over the past couple of years, Jesryna has tutored students looking to study law at top UK universities, guiding them on all aspects of the admissions process. Her goal has been to breakdown and demystify the admissions process, while showing applicants that the process is not as daunting as it may initially seem. Through tailor-made approaches to the needs of individual students, she hopes to be able to support applicants in achieving their goals.

Monte

University of Oxford

Monte is currently a 2nd-year chemistry undergraduate at the University of Oxford. He studied in KYUEM and has achieved a 6 A* result for his A-levels, in a mix of both sciences and humanities subjects. He has participated in several competitions notably achieving a gold award in the Malaysian Astronomy Olympiad and high distinction in the Kuiz Kimia Kebangsaaan. He is also interested in martial arts, chess and is ecstatic to share his own experiences in Oxford. He has experience in tutoring for MacGillis education group, and creating lesson plans for Genius Development. He believes that learning should not only be fun, but intuitive. Preferring a pragmatic view to education, believing it is more than just memorising the contents of a book.

Hajar

University of Oxford

Hajar is a third-year law student at the University of Oxford. She was awarded an Exhibition for academic excellence in her first and third years of university, and achieved 2A*2A for A-Levels and 11A+ for SPM. She mainly tutors English and English Literature. Hajar is a firm believer in improving access to the world’s top universities, and participates in outreach activities with the Oxford University Malaysia Club alongside providing guidance and mentorship to aspiring students. In her free time, Hajar enjoys volunteering, dancing and cooking.

Jazlan Haris

University of Pennsylvania

Jazlan is a senior enrolled at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he is working towards a Bachelor of Science in Economics. At Wharton, he is concentrating in Operations, Information, and Decision, as well as Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Most recently, Jazlan completed an internship in management consulting on Wall Street. Prior to that, he made strides in diverse industries, including banking, advertising, and telecommunications. He hopes to impart his real-world experiences to the students he meets, especially for those interested in pursuing business degrees. As a student himself, Jazlan understands the unique challenges faced by aspiring applicants and endeavours to build meaningful connections during tutoring sessions. His goal is to foster a two-way exchange of knowledge and ensure that learning is an enjoyable experience. His approach is rooted in getting to know his students on a personal level, allowing him to tailor his guidance and advice to their specific needs. This personalised approach has proven successful in helping students craft compelling personal statements and excel in interviews.

Jia Wei

University of Pennsylvania

Jia graduated summa cum laude from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and concentrations in Business Analytics, Management, and Actuarial Science. Jia’s work experience spans multiple countries - she believes in broadening horizons, and has held roles across management consulting, innovation advisory, agile project management, as well as branding and communications. This allows her to bring in relevant real world examples to her students, especially for business studies. Jia is passionate about educational empowerment. She has experience as a Teaching Assistant and Tutor at Penn teaching university students data analytics, mathematics and other business courses, a Kumon tutor, as well as a TOEFL tutor.

Zi Khang

University of Cambridge

Zi Khang graduated from the University of Cambridge in Mathematics and was the top scorer for A levels in Malaysia for November 2015. He has a burning passion for Mathematics and Sciences. Having participated in various Olympiads (including winning 2 bronze medals in the International Chemistry Olympiad) and thoroughly enjoying the process, Zi Khang hopes to spread the joy of problem solving and inculcate the love for Mathematics in his students. In his spare time, he either indulges himself in the world of anime or participates in the occasional online math or programming contest.

Marcus

University of Cambridge

Marcus is currently studying medicine in King’s College, University of Cambridge and is the recipient of the King’s International Studentship awarded for excellent academic performance. Before university, he scored 4A*s in A Levels and 10A+ in SPM. He has experience in teaching mental arithmetic and was involved in tutoring prospective medical students in university admissions tests and personal statement writing via workshops and various outreach programmes. He believes that it is paramount to provide every passionate student all the tools and information they need throughout their university admission process, as these can instil confidence and encourage them to perform better. In his free time, he enjoys cooking different cuisines and hiking.

Daniel

University of Cambridge

Daniel is a third-year student studying Natural Science at the University of Cambridge, specialising in Chemistry. Prior to university, he developed a love for teaching at a mathematics tutoring centre, tutoring students from primary school to high school. Additionally, he engages with his college's access programme, where he provides Cambridge admissions tutoring for students from underprivileged backgrounds. His eagerness for tutoring stems from his passion for chemistry, as evident by achieving the highest rank in Natural Sciences in his second year. Having attended a high school in the US, he is also experienced in US university applications and standardised testing. He is keen to take on students seeking to apply to either Oxbridge or Ivy League schools and can provide tutoring for admissions counselling, personal statement writing, and admissions testing. Scott

Scott is an investment and treasury professional specialising in managing funds for large institutions. He graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Master's in Finance (Distinction) in 2022, and from University College London with a BSc Economics (First Class Honours & Dean's List) in 2018 under the Bank Negara Malaysia overseas scholarship program. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder. Scott believes in helping students succeed academically in their chosen field through cultivating a genuine sense of intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand the world around them. He has helped students navigate UK university admissions, particularly for Economics courses. In his free time, he plays tennis, builds Python codes for investment research, and dabbles with custom mechanical keyboards.

Uday

University of Cambridge

As a University of Cambridge Geography graduate, Uday brings a profound academic background to his tutoring. With over four years of teaching experience across various platforms, he is dedicated to providing personalized 1-to-1 support, a rarity in traditional classrooms. Alongside my academic pursuits, he excels as a semi-professional cricketer, showcasing his commitment to both sports and academics. His time at Cambridge was marked by receiving the prestigious Joan McGrath award, a testament to his academic achievements. Specializing in Oxbridge support, he aims to equip students with the unique insights and guidance they often miss out on in conventional school settings.

Yu Han

London School of Economics and Political Science

Yu Han currently works as an in-house strategy manager at a fintech firm in Hong Kong. She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Prior to this, she completed her SPM with 12A+ and A-Levels at Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ) with 4A*, and was awarded "Top in World for A-Level Economics" in 2014 and "Top in Malaysia for AS-Level Economics" in 2013 by CIE. She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder.

Jia Zheng

University of Cambridge

Jia Zheng is currently a second-year Engineer at Trinity College, University of Cambridge and a recipient of the Cambridge Trust Scholarship. He was awarded Top in Malaysia in A2 Chemistry and A2 Mathematics, as well as a Top in the World for AS Mathematics. He is in contact with the Cambridge Admission Team which aims to always provide the latest information to all prospective students. In 2021, he initiated the Cambridge Malaysian Bridging Fund in hopes to encourage more Malaysians to apply to Cambridge by covering their application costs and providing support. He believes that having confidence in oneself is key to persevere through hardship, and having a mentor will help instil confidence and to thrive during challenging times.

Binu

University of Cambridge

Binu is a recent graduate from the University of Cambridge with a first class degree in Natural Sciences, where he continues his studies as a fourth year Medical Student. At university, Binu was involved in managing a number of societies, including the Caius Medical Society (the largest college medical society in the university) as its President. With over 3 years of tutoring experience, Binu is passionate about inspiring students to be inquisitive and critical whilst developing the discipline necessary for success at A-level and with University admissions. He is experienced with guiding students through the University admissions process, mentoring a number of successful students over recent years.

Ryan

University of Cambridge

Ryan is currently a second year engineering student at University of Cambridge. As someone actively involved in the Cambridge University Malaysia Society, he has been helping students with university admissions in providing guidance, conducting mock interviews, mentoring and admissions test tutoring. He has conducted workshops on writing personal statements and how to score in admissions tests such as ENGAA. He loves having interactive classes with his students as that is how he analyses the strengths and weaknesses and address them accordingly. Ryan enjoys reading engineering-related information and watching formula 1, taking part in the university formula student team to design cars for international competitions.

Yu Shin

University of Cambridge

Yu Shin is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Cambridge. Coming from a Korean household and immersed in UK academic life, they learned at an early age the importance of a rich education that allows individuals to reach their highest potential and aim for the highest achievement. Their greatest skill is versatility, allowing them to quickly adapt and aim to excel in everything they come across, including tutoring unfamiliar students. They have a Bachelor’s in History of Art at the university of Cambridge.

Sundar

University of Cambridge

Sundar is currently a clinical medicine student at the University of Cambridge. He attained a double first in his undergraduate degree, finishing with a B.A. (Hons) in Pharmacology. Prior to university, he studied in Singapore and achieved 44 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations. Sundar has extensive experience tutoring students and is passionate about enabling their success. In his free time, he golfs, debates and learns new languages.

Alea

University of Cambridge

Alea is a current Natural Sciences (Chemistry) student at the University of Cambridge and Cambridge Trust scholarship recipient. Prior to university, She achieved 12A*s in her GCSEs (with 2 Top in the World and 2 Top in Malaysia awards) and 4A*s in her A Levels on a full scholarship. Her teaching experience includes GCSE, A Levels and university admissions tutoring in Malaysia and the UK, and she has successfully guided a number of students to obtain places at the University of Cambridge. She believes that learning should be engaging and interactive, and aims to help students understand concepts whilst inspiring them to view the world with a sense of curiosity. In her free time, she enjoys cooking elaborate meals, running and reading.

Matthew

University of Oxford

Matthew is pursuing an MSt in Film Aesthetics at the University of Oxford as a Chevening Scholar. He previously served as a teaching and research assistant at NYU Abu Dhabi, where he earned a fully-funded BA in Film, Philosophy and Creative Writing. He practices a non-prescriptive teaching approach, and views the personal essay as a craft masterable like any other art form. In addition to teaching, he holds seven years of filmmaking experience. Notable works include Impromptu Op. COVID No. 19 (2020, director) and A.I.: African Intelligence (2023, assistant editor) which premiered at the Oscar-qualifying DocEdge and Berlin film festivals respectively. In high school, he obtained an IB score of 44, 10 IGCSE A*s, and a DipABRSM in Piano Performance.

Yizhen

University of Oxford

Yizhen read Law at the University of Oxford. She also holds an MBA from the Asia School of Business in collaboration with MIT Sloan. Yizhen is currently Chief of Staff at an Asean-based travel-tech company and has professionally served as an advisor to three CEOs from various businesses across Asia-Pacific. She thoroughly understands what university admissions officers are looking for, and has been coaching students for interviews and applications for the past 14 years. Yizhen believes that the strongest candidates are those who combine calibre with confidence and conviction, and her approach focuses on helping students uniquely distinguish their profiles. Her leisure pursuits include yoga, reading and designing bespoke cocktails as a freelance mixologist.

Elizabeth

Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge

Elizabeth is a recent law graduate from Sussex College, Cambridge and will be training to be a solicitor at Linklaters, London in January 2021. She has helped numerous students prepare for their law application to Oxbridge and top London law schools like LSE, UCL and KCL. Majority of the applicants under her tutelage secure interviews and a few have received offers to colleges like Mansfield College, Oxford and Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge. She has also tutored A Level History, helping candidates achieve stellar results, and taught English to retirees and university students during the Oxbridge Summer Schools Abroad for 2018 in Kobe, Japan.

Hilary

University of Cambridge

Hilary graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2020, where she read Geography and Management Studies at both the Department of Geography as well as Cambridge Judge Business School for her undergraduate degree. In university, Hilary was an active member of the Cambridge University Malaysian Society and Project Access Singapore, where she had opportunities to mentor aspiring university students and present at university outreach programmes. Prior to university, Hilary was an ASEAN Scholar (funded by Singapore's MOE) in Singapore, where she received 8As for her Singapore GCE A Levels exam.

Yen Min

University of Cambridge

Yen Min is currently a 2nd-year student at the University of Cambridge, studying English. In 2019, she was awarded the Reach for the Stars scholarship to complete her A-Levels at Alice Smith School, and attained all A*s for A-Levels. Passionate about creative writing and journalism, she held the post of Theatre and Culture Editor at the Cambridge Tab Newspaper, and is now actively involved in writing for the Varsity Newspaper as well. Brendan is currently studying for a Master’s in Natural Sciences, specialising in Physics in the University of Cambridge. His teaching experience includes involvement in companies such as PrepWorks, MABECs and others, along with private tutoring for A Levels students. Several of his students have gone to universities such as Imperial College or University of Cambridge. Having obtained a Top Gold medal in the British Physics Olympiad, he has also given classes for Physics Olympiad preparation. He tries to build up a firm foundational understanding in students, allowing them to visualise the problem; the math is later used as scaffolding to supplement the central idea. Having previously struggled with the material himself, he has developed methods of explaining ideas in different ways to students.

Lavanya is a student at the University of Cambridge, where she is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Education and English. As a student she has a strong record of exam performance. Whilst completing her A-Levels she was awarded several academic prizes including “Top in the World for A-Level Literature in English”, “Top in the World for AS Literature in English, as well as “Top in World for AS Psychology”. She completed her A Level Literature in English with 99% average across both years and achieved full marks in her final year papers for the subject. Lavanya is passionate about using her experience of exam success to help students achieve their academic goals. She works with students to identify areas they’d like to improve on and tailors lessons to suit their needs. Adept and trained in delivering lessons online, she currently tutors in both English and Psychology.

Chia Yi

Chia Yi is currently in her final year of Medicine at Trinity College in the University of Cambridge. She has previously taught underprivileged children in Maths, Science and English and found it to be a very rewarding experience. She is actively helping out with the Cambridge University Malaysian Society's Summer Outreach Programme, speaking to potential applicants about Oxbridge and admissions. Shahreen Bux

Shahreen graduated with a distinction in MBBS, Medicine from Queen Mary University London. She was awarded a full scholarship upon achieving academic excellence from when she completed her International Baccalaureate. Shahreen worked with the NHS at King George Hospital, Queens Hospital Romford and Goodmayes Hospital where she practised various specialties ranging from Respiratory to General Surgery and Emergency Medicine. She eventually specialised in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and was in the process of completing her MRCOG when she decided to move back to Malaysia. Since then, she has taken an extended sabbatical from hospital medicine. She now juggles motherhood, running her own business, teaching fitness classes part time and tutors future medical students on Prepworks. In her spare time she enjoys indoor cycling, travelling and word games.

Nazya

Graduating from law from the University of Bristol, UK, Nazya unexpectedly found her passion in teaching. With 14 years teaching experience in IGCSE English, SAT, IELTS and TOEFL and personal statement writing, she has helped students get into top universities worldwide and win international writing competitions. She also holds a certificate from Coach Training Edu, USA in Academic Life Coaching. This has helped her guide students and young adults more effectively through developing better learning skills, organisation, study techniques, emotional intelligence and executive function skills. Nazya believes that it is important for students to develop their creativity, critical thinking, confidence and independence through lessons that are interactive, challenging and engaging.

Andrew graduated from University of Sydney in Psychology and is a certified professional coach and facilitator. He runs his own coaching practice, Scaling People Asia PLT and has coached over 200 clients. He aims to equip children with skills, know-how and experience in setting up businesses to help them realise their ability to serve the greater good of humanity for generations to come.

Alistair attended the Alice Smith School for his A levels and IGCSEs and received academic scholarship to study his chosen university degree. He holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol; received with First Class Honours. In his professional career, he has worked as a management consultant at MBB. He has tutored applicants in their university admissions for top UK universities and others in their professional career applications. He has been coaching students across a variety of subjects from Engineering to Computer Science to Business Management and Finance. He believes that the best way for students to mature and develop, is to build upon fundamental understanding and passion for learning rather than teaching the typical “how-to’s” in academics.

Jon is currently the academic director and a lecturer in theology at St Paul's Theological College, Malaysia. He studied at Harrow School then graduated with a BA (first class hons.) in philosophy and theology, and a PhD in theology, both from Bristol University. He went on to study electric guitar at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London. Following this, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of London where he published work in analytic theology. He is confident the study of philosophy/theology can add great value to a student's life, whether or not they decide to read the subjects at university. He brings over 15 years of personal tutoring experience to PrepWorks. In his spare time he runs Aesthetic (a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu apparel brand), enjoys spending time with his young family and is finishing a book on Asian/analytic theology.

Prof Andrew

Saint Louis University and University of Toronto Trinity College

Andrew completed his training in medicine, pharmacology, cardiovascular physiology, and molecular neuroscience at St. Louis University, University of Toronto Trinity College, University of Cambridge Emmanuel College, and McGill University, respectively. He received an Alzheimer Society Canada Research Award and fellowships from the American Psychiatric Association and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh for his contributions in dementia research and psychiatric education. Before moving to Malaysia, Andrew was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He overhauled the undergraduate psychiatry teaching as the Director of Education within his department, held various leading medical education positions with the university, established the Neuro-dysfunction Research Laboratory, trained postgraduate research students and published in high-impact journals. At the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), he has revamped the psychiatry teaching programme by pioneering different knowledge exchange approaches. Andrew has been actively involved in student selection at HKU and RCSI for over a decade. With his senior academic and management roles, he has established connections with medical schools in many countries and very much understands students’ needs.

Visagan

Durham University

Visagan is currently pursuing a PhD in Condensed Matter Physics at Durham University. He previously read Theoretical Physics, MPhys at Durham graduating with First Class Honours as well as the Physics department’s J.A. Chalmers prize for the best final year project in Theoretical Physics. Visagan believes that although there may ‘only be one correct answer’ in Maths and Science, there are many routes to get to the answer and encourages students to develop their own way of thinking and understanding concepts. Outside of teaching and Physics, he enjoys gaming, cycling, golf, reading and immersing himself in the German language and culture.

Shaun

Shaun read for the BA in Jurisprudence at the University of Oxford, where he graduated with a first-class degree and was notably awarded prizes for achieving the highest marks in the Contract and Media Law papers. He went on to read for the Bachelor of Civil Law, the most competitive and rigorous postgraduate law degree in the UK. Shaun was active throughout university in guiding aspiring applicants to law degrees through societies and pro bono work. In fact, two of his mentees were successful in being offered a place to read for the BA Jurisprudence at their chosen colleges in Oxford. He hopes that he can continue helping others learn from his mistakes to be admitted into their dream university.

Nathan is a current second-year engineering undergraduate at the University of Cambridge. He attained an impressive 4A* in his A-levels and held the distinction of being the sole Cambridge engineering offer holder in Sunway College for his cohort. Luke graduated with a 1st class degree in Physiology, Development and Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge. He is currently in his fifth year of study on the Medicine course at Cambridge. Sharanya obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Drama at the University of Exeter, UK. She is an experienced Speech and Drama and Public Speaking teacher at several institutions and international schools in Kuala Lumpur, working with students ages 5 – 20 years old as well as special needs children and adults. She thoroughly enjoys working alongside children and is passionate about using “drama in the classroom” as a way of building confidence, and public speaking skills amongst our younger generation. Cherry read Mathematics and then Computing at Manchester University and has spent the rest of her life teaching. She was Head of Computer Science at KYUEM. After college, she volunteered to teach English for Korean speakers for a summer camp. Once university began, she provided private tutoring to students from government schools and international schools during her free time. She also teaches special needs students as well as preschoolers.
